Common questions about how electricians charge in Fort McMurray.
Pricing Policy & Service Terms
1. Estimates vs. Quotes
Pricing listed on this website or provided over the phone is for informational purposes only. A firm, binding quote can only be provided after a Master Electrician has physically inspected the job site. Phone estimates are based on "ideal conditions" and may change if non-standard wiring or obstructions are discovered.
2. The "Diagnostic Fee"
Our $150 Dispatch & Diagnostic Fee covers the travel time and the first 30-60 minutes of troubleshooting required to identify your electrical fault.
The $150 diagnostic fee is due upon completion of the inspection. However, if you proceed with the recommended repairs, this entire fee is credited toward your final invoice.
3. Unforeseen Conditions
Electrical troubleshooting often involves "opening walls" or inspecting areas that are not visible. If we discover pre-existing code violations, aluminum wiring hazards, or structural issues that were not disclosed or visible during the initial quote, a Change Order will be presented for approval before any additional work begins.
4. Permits & Materials
Unless explicitly stated in a "Flat Rate Package," all pricing excludes the cost of materials and City of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Electrical Permits. Permits are mandatory for most new installations (like EV chargers and panel upgrades) to ensure your home insurance remains valid. Permit fees will be added to your final invoice.
5. Payment Terms
Payment is due in full upon completion of the work. We accept Credit Cards, Interac e-Transfer, and Cheques.
